World-class Glass

In the 1960s Tulane became one of the first universities in the country to include hot glass into the fine arts curriculum. Since 1976, Professor Gene Koss has headed the glass program at Tulane University and under his guidance the Pace-Willson Glass Studio is now a world-class glass facility.



Students and faculty discuss the Tulane glass program and show what sets it apart in this video produced by Ryan Rivet.

While the program is well known in the art community, students and faculty members in the glass studio feel they may be the best-kept secret on campus.

"What Gene has built here is internationally known . . . but people next door don't know that we're here," says Steven Durow, professor of practice and an alumnus of the Tulane master of fine arts program. "I think there's a lot of people who might be interested in it that don't know about the program because they don't come over to this side of campus."
