Tulane University is one of the nation's leading educational and research institutions. Founded in 1834 in New Orleans, Tulane offers degrees in architecture, business, law, liberal arts, medicine, public health and tropical medicine, the sciences and engineering, and social work.

CLASS OF 2011

More than 1,300 new first-year undergraduate students arrived at Tulane this fall, representing a 50 percent increase in the number of incoming first-year students in the 2006-2007 academic year.

The class of 2011 also boasts impressive credentials. Fifty percent of incoming first-year students were in the top 10 percent of their high school class with the vast majority of the remainder in the top 20 percent. More than 90 incoming students graduated from high school with perfect 4.0 grade point averages.

Campuses

  • Tulane’s uptown campus includes 110 acres and 80 buildings, housing the majority of its schools and colleges.
  • The F. Edward Hebert Research Center, near Belle Chasse, La., provides research facilities in medicine and environmental, behavioral and computer sciences.
  • The School of Continuing Studies has satellite campuses in Elmwood Business Park in Jefferson Parish, La., and in Biloxi, Miss.
  • The downtown Health Sciences campus has several divisions: School of Medicine, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Tulane Medical Center, Technology Services, and Government Relations.
  • The northshore campus is home to the Tulane National Primate Research Center in Covington, La.
  • The A.B. Freeman School of Business offers Executive and Professional MBA programs at its satellite campus in Houston, Texas.

Libraries

  • The main Howard-Tilton Memorial Library houses the Latin American Library and the Maxwell Music Library. The Rudolph Matas Library is located in the School of Medicine.
  • The Special Collections Division in Jones Hall includes the Hogan Jazz Archive, Southeastern Architectural Archive, University Archives, Rare Books and Manuscripts and the Louisiana Collection.
  • Other libraries include architecture, botany, business, law, mathematics, natural history, primate research, race relations and ethnic history and women’s studies.

  • Tulane University was named by Kaplan/Newsweek's college guide as one of the 25 "Hot Schools" in the nation in 2008.
  • According to U.S. News and World Report, Tulane University is among the top 50 national universities in the United States. Tulane is ranked 50th among the best national universities, 48th in the magazine's "Great Schools/Great Prices" category and is also cited for its excellent service learning programs.
  • The A.B. Freeman School of Business has been highly ranked by Forbes magazine (44th overall and 28th among private universities); London's Financial Times (EMBA program, 54th; MBA, 73rd internationally and 46th nationally); U.S. News and World Report (undergraduate, 48th); America Economia (EMBA program, 32nd internationally); and Entrepreneur magazine (15th in graduate programs for entrepreneurs). In addition, London’s Financial Times ranked the finance department of the A.B.
